Biography

John Lombardy Beckham is a multifaceted individual, hailing from Prince George's County, Maryland, where he has made a significant impact in the world of filmmaking and music.

As a creator, co-director, and producer, John is responsible for the SHOWTIME sports documentary "Basketball County," which explores the Maryland home and its rise to prominence in the world of basketball. The film received a glowing review from Brady Langmann of Esquire, who compared it favorably to the acclaimed mini-series "The Last Dance."

During the post-production phase of "Basketball County," John embarked on another creative venture, "Pizza People," a short documentary that delves into his brother's passion for pizza and the opening of his highly acclaimed pizzeria. The film went on to win the best short award at the 2020 Seoul International Food Film Festival.

John's next project was "The Diabetes Solution," a documentary produced in collaboration with The Rivere Foundation. Released on-demand on November 9th, 2021, the film opened at number three on the iTunes Documentary list. The Knockturnal praised the documentary for its intimate and real portrayal of the lives of individuals and families affected by type 1 diabetes, highlighting the significance of dietary changes and insulin strategies in improving patients' lives.

In addition to his documentary work, John has also ventured into narrative filmmaking. During the pandemic, he collaborated with long-time partner Simon Kim to produce his first narrative short, "20FN20," a dark comedy time capsule that humorously captures the absurdities of the year 2020.

Prior to his foray into filmmaking, John worked as a sales manager at a highly respected Information Technology company. In his earlier years, he was involved in various music projects, including the production of the Glorification of Gangster soundtrack and the debut album from lowercase letters. He also wrote the short film "The Most Wicked Storm," an animated fable inspired by Shel Silverstein's "The Giving Tree" and a childhood prank.

Throughout his career, John has demonstrated his versatility and creativity, seamlessly transitioning between different mediums and genres. His dedication to his craft has resulted in a wide range of critically acclaimed projects that showcase his unique perspective and storytelling abilities.
