Janette Anne Dimech, professionally known as Jeanette, is a Spanish singer and songwriter born on October 10, 1951. She initially gained fame as the lead vocalist of the teenage folk-pop band Pic-Nic, whose 1968 song "Cállate, niña" brought them success.

Jeanette's solo career began in 1971 with the Hispavox single "Soy rebelde," which redefined her career as a romantic balladist and became a hit across the Spanish-speaking world, cementing its status as a generational anthem.

In 1976, Jeanette's song "Porque te vas" was featured in Carlos Saura's film Cría cuervos, propelling it to become a major hit and one of the most famous Spanish pop songs of all time.
