Noted Canadian filmmaker, François Lauzon, hailed from a modest family background, and prior to pursuing his passion for the cinematic arts, he was employed in a variety of occupations. Eventually, he earned a title in Communications, which served as a springboard for his subsequent decision to relocate to Los Angeles in the late 1970s to further his education in the field of cinema.
During his time in Los Angeles, Lauzon made a name for himself by creating a number of notable short films, the majority of which garnered critical acclaim and numerous awards. His subsequent feature films, which also received widespread recognition, cemented his status as one of the most influential and respected Canadian directors of his time.
Tragically, Lauzon's promising career was cut short when he perished in a plane crash, along with his girlfriend, Marie-Soleil Tougas, while preparing to shoot his third feature film.
