Jason Martorino's journey in performance began at the age of 16, inspired by his high school drama teacher, a seasoned professional in film and theatre. He then pursued his passion at York University's theatre school in Toronto, but soon transferred to Wilfrid Laurier University's opera performance program in Waterloo, Ontario, combining his love for acting and music.
During his five-year training, Jason discovered his talent for singing and acting in lead and character roles, performing with local stage companies and eventually landing his first film role. This marked the beginning of a long-term creative partnership with writer/director/producer Lyndon Horsfall.
Throughout his early years, Jason was actively involved in the Toronto theatre scene, taking on lead and supporting roles in numerous classical and modern plays, including Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, Coward's Present Laughter, Ryton's Crown Matrimonial, and Moliere's The School For Wives.
Jason's eagerness to challenge himself led him to venture into the Toronto film and television industry, starting with commercials, PSA's, and the web series Posthuman, where he wrote, produced, and starred as the central character Charlie Porter. Posthuman was a reunion with Lyndon Horsfall, and Jason went on to co-direct the music video Sundown for the band The Short Films with Horsfall.
As his career progressed, Jason landed small roles in network TV series and supporting roles in feature films Kingdom Come and Synchronicity. He continues to seek out challenging roles and new collaborative opportunities from his base in Toronto.
