Jaime Osorio Márquez, a renowned Colombian film producer, screenwriter, filmmaker, and director, was born on October 30, 1975, in Cali, Colombia.
Between 1995 and 1999, he pursued higher education at the Université de Rennes II in France, studying Deug, Licence, and La Maitrisse en Arts du Spectacle Mention Études Cinématographiques.
Upon returning to Colombia in 2000, Márquez began his career as a director of commercials for prominent companies such as Teleset, República Films, Los Sopranos, and Rhayuela Films. His impressive portfolio included notable campaigns for clients like Avianca, Chevrolet, Coca-Cola, Yoplait, Alpina, McDonald's, Nestlé, and Newell Sanford.
Throughout his career, Márquez earned recognition for his unique ability to infuse tension and drama into his work, including winning awards at the Nova and Caribbean festivals.
In 2011, he made his feature film debut as director and screenwriter with El páramo, produced by Rhayuela Cine in co-production with Alta Films (Spain),Sudestada (Argentina),and Wild Bunch as international sales agent. The film was sold to multiple territories, including the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan, Turkey, Thailand, and Taiwan.
Márquez also directed the series El laberinto for Caracol Televisión in 2011, in co-production with Sony Televisión. Between 2013 and 2017, he wrote the feature film Mostro (also known as Asilo) and the first season of the television series Mil colmillos.
Tragically, Jaime Osorio Márquez passed away on December 23, 2021, at the age of 46, after a long battle with cancer.
