Irena Ristich, a multifaceted actress and activist, was born and raised in the picturesque town of Ohrid, Macedonia. With a rich background in the performing arts, she has made a name for herself in various roles across film, television, and theater.
Ristich's impressive acting repertoire includes notable performances in "Three Days in September" (2015),"Bal-Can-Can" (2005),and "Goodbye, 20th Century" (1998). Her extensive training at the Faculty of Dramatic Arts at the University St. Cyril and Methodius in Skopje culminated in her graduation with the role of Yasuko Rokujo from Yukio Mishima's "Five Modern Noh Plays".
As a lead actress at the Drama Theatre in Skopje (Dramski Teatar),Ristich has been a staple of the theater scene since 1999. Her most recent roles include Eva in "Strangers" for the Drama Theatre in Skopje in 2018, Paolina Salas in Dorfman's "Death and the Maiden" for the Wonderland Theatre Skopje in 2017, Cate in "Old Times" by Harold Pinter for the Ohrid Theatre (2016),and the remake of Eve Ensler's "The Vagina Monologues".
In addition to her theatrical pursuits, Ristich has also made a name for herself in television, appearing in the TV series "Insajder" (2017) and "Prespav" (2018). In "Insajder", she brought to life the complex character of Natalia, a newspaper editor grappling with personal and professional conflicts. As a guest actress in the comedy serial "Prespav", she stole the show with her portrayal of Lenka (Lenche Burence),a sanitary inspector and former fiancée of the lead character.
A native Serbian and Macedonian speaker, Ristich is also experienced in a range of accents and dialects. She is fluent in English and has appeared in roles in Russian, Italian, Dutch, and German-speaking productions.
Throughout her career, Ristich has been recognized for her tireless advocacy and humanitarian work, particularly in the area of animal welfare. She was featured in Avon's campaign Against Domestic Violence in 2016 and has supported various campaigns promoting ecology, the legalization of marijuana, the rights of sex workers, and the LGBT community.
Ristich has also been an active member of the Macedonian Sharena (Colored) Revolution, a nation-wide protest movement against corruption and injustice, from 2015 to 2016. Currently residing in Skopje, she continues to make a positive impact in the world through her work in the arts and her dedication to social causes.
