Ian Duncan Stewart, more infamously known as Ian Brady, shared a notorious reputation with his girlfriend Myra Hindley for being responsible for the heinous kidnappings and murders of five innocent children between 1963 and 1965. This malevolent individual's dark past began to unfold as a child, where he would frequently engage in the cruel and inhumane act of torturing and killing animals, even going so far as to set a dog ablaze. As he grew older, his twisted tendencies only intensified, and he began to direct his sadistic behavior towards human victims.
Brady's fascination with World War II and the Nazi regime led him to develop an interest in the German language and even read Adolf Hitler's autobiography, Mein Kampf. His literary tastes also included works by Dostoyevsky, Marquis de Sade, and other authors who explored themes of sadism. Prior to his criminal exploits, Brady was charged with housebreaking and burglary on three separate occasions between the ages of thirteen and sixteen. Following his third arrest, he relocated to Manchester to live with his mother and stepfather, where he continued his life of crime, ultimately ending up in two juvenile detention centers.
It was in 1961 that Brady met his future partner in crime, Myra Hindley, a girl who would become his accomplice in the heinous murders that would forever stain their names.
