Grażyna Szapołowska, a renowned Polish actress, was born on September 19, 1953. After completing her secondary education, she embarked on a journey in the world of theatre, joining the prestigious Wroclaw Theatre of Pantomime. She then furthered her education at The Theatre Art School in Warsaw, graduating in 1977.
Following her graduation, Szapołowska became a part of the theatrical company at the National Theatre in Warsaw, where she remained until 1984. Her impressive career in theatre laid the foundation for her future success in film.
Grażyna Szapołowska is perhaps most famous for her iconic roles in Krzysztof Kieślowski's films, including the critically acclaimed "A Short Film About Love" (1988) and its earlier iteration, the sixth episode of "Dekalog". Her collaboration with Kieślowski extended beyond these two films, as she also starred in "Bez końca". Interestingly, it was Szapołowska who suggested an alternative ending for the full-length version of "A Short Film About Love", showcasing her significant contribution to the film's narrative.
