Gloria Lynne Henry, a renowned actress, was born in the vibrant city of Detroit. Her passion for the performing arts began at a remarkably young age of eight, as she started taking the stage. This early start led her to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in theater arts at Wayne State University, also situated in Detroit. After completing her education, Gloria played a pivotal role in establishing a children's theater program at the Attic theater in Detroit.
Her travels took her to Europe, where she joined the international group 'Up With People' for their European tour. She also had the opportunity to perform in various Equity playhouses across the United States. This extensive experience in the theater world laid the foundation for her future endeavors.
Gloria's foray into television began with a small role in the TV movie Bare Essence in 1982. However, it was her co-starring role in the 1994 horror film Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead that catapulted her to recognition among horror and science fiction fans worldwide. Director Don Coscarelli cast her as Rocky due to her tough appearance and her proficiency in martial arts. This performance remains her most notable to date, and she continues to attend horror conventions and Phantasm reunions to connect with her devoted fan base.
In the years following her appearance in Phantasm III: Lord of the Dead, Gloria appeared in a few brief roles, including The Devil's Advocate in 1997 and The Horse Whisperer in 1998. More recently, she has been working on a variety of national commercials.
In addition to her acting career, Gloria has also excelled as the lead singer in the critically acclaimed funk/rock band 'Chatter.' The band was initially formed by her cousin, Brian Hardgroove, who boasts an impressive music resume.
Today, Gloria Lynne Henry resides in Los Angeles with her husband and son.
