Biography

Georgy Maximilianovich Malenkov was a Soviet politician born on December 6, 1901, according to the Old Style calendar, which corresponds to November 23, 1901, in the Gregorian calendar. He held the esteemed position of leader of the Soviet Union briefly, following the demise of Joseph Stalin. Despite his initial success, Malenkov was compelled to relinquish control over the party apparatus at the insistence of the remaining members of the Presidium. In exchange, he retained the role of Premier and gained a position of prominence within the Soviet collective leadership.

Malenkov's tenure as Premier was marked by a power struggle with Nikita Khrushchev, which ultimately led to his removal from the premiership in 1955. He was also ousted from the Presidium in 1957.
