Franziska Petri's journey in the world of acting began in 1992 when she enrolled at the esteemed Ernst Busch Academy of Dramatic Art in Berlin, where she spent the next three years honing her craft.
Her entry into the film industry came in 1997 with a minor role in the cinematic production "Das Mambospiel" directed by Michael Gwisdek, which had the distinction of opening the 48th Berlin International Film Festival.
Petri's breakthrough performance came in 1998 with her leading role in the critically acclaimed and award-winning film "Vergiss Amerika", which garnered significant attention from both critics and audiences alike.
Subsequently, she appeared in a diverse range of cinematic productions, including the historic drama "Leo & Claire" directed by Joseph Vilsmaier, the quirky comedy "Max & Moritz Reloaded" directed by Thomas Frydetzki, the psychological thriller "Das Herz ist ein dunkler Wald" directed by Nicolette Krebitz, the political drama "Schattenwelt" directed by Connie Walther, and the psychological drama "Der Tag, an dem ich meinen toten Mann traf" directed by Matthias Luthardt.
In 2009, Petri's outstanding performance in the psychothriller "Für Miriam" directed by Lars Gunnar Lotz earned her several prestigious awards, including Best Actress at the 59th Berlin International Film Festival, Best Actress at La Cabina.
