Elsa Lunghini, a French singer and actress, was born on May 20, 1973. As a teenage pop-star in the late-1980s, she achieved immense success, becoming the youngest singer to reach number one in the French charts with her single "T'en va pas" in 1986.
Born to George Lunghini, an actor, photographer, and songwriter, and Christiane Jobert, a painter, Elsa is of Italian origin on her father's side and Sephardic Jewish origin on her mother's side. She is a cousin of actresses Eva Green and Josephine Jobert.
Elsa began her career at a young age, performing in a movie at seven in Claude Miller's Garde à vue in 1981, alongside Romy Schneider. At 17, she became the youngest artist to perform in the main program at the Olympia in Paris in October 1990, and the youngest to have a number one hit in the Top 50 in France.
Her first album, Elsa, was released in 1988 and achieved double-platinum status by 1993. The album included hit singles such as "Quelque chose dans mon cœur", "Jour de neige", "Jamais nous", and "Un Roman d'amitié". With the help of her musician father, Elsa recorded her album, selling over 600,000 copies.
In 1990, Elsa released her second album, Rien que pour ça, which included the top 20 hit "Rien que pour ça". The album also featured the singles "Pleure doucement" and "Qu'est-ce que ça peut lui faire". Her first tour, at the Olympia, followed the album's release.
In 1992, Elsa recorded the mid-rock single "Bouscule-moi", which was a hit. Her third album, Douce violence, included two more singles, but they failed to become hits. In 1996, aged 23, Elsa wrote and composed her fourth album, Chaque jour est un long chemin, which sold 20,000 copies.
In recent years, Elsa has continued to perform and has taken part in various charity events, including the Tour of the Resto du Coeur soup-kitchen charity. She has also starred in two TV movies and has been involved in a television advertising campaign for Danone yoghurt.
