Biography

David Clark Lee, a renowned American television producer, director, and writer, was born in 1950. He is best recognized for his exceptional work on the iconic TV shows Cheers and Frasier.

Lee's early life took place in Claremont, California, where he attended the University of Redlands for his higher education. He collaborated with Peter Casey on The Jeffersons and Cheers, contributing to the success of both shows for six and four years, respectively. Together, Lee and Casey co-created the popular TV series Wings and Frasier alongside the late David Angell under the Grub Street Productions banner.

In addition to his television work, Lee has also produced revival productions of notable Broadway musicals, including South Pacific starring Brian Stokes Mitchell and Reba McEntire, Can-Can, and Camelot. He played a crucial role in reviving the classic musical Can-Can by co-writing a newly revised script alongside Joel Fields.

Throughout his illustrious career, Lee has received an impressive eighteen Primetime Emmy Award nominations, winning nine of those nominations. He has also won the esteemed Directors Guild Award, the Golden Globe Award, Producers Guild Award, and GLAAD Media Award.
