Cate Devaney's formative years were spent in the charming city of Cape Girardeau, Missouri, situated majestically along the majestic Mississippi River. Her academic pursuits took her to a prestigious institution where she majored in Architecture, simultaneously delving into the realm of playwriting and honing her skills in the creative arts. To supplement her expenses, Cate supplemented her income by modeling part-time, laying the groundwork for a future career in the entertainment industry.
Upon graduation, Cate made the bold decision to relocate to the vibrant city of New York, where she dedicated herself to full-time modeling and continued to nurture her passion for writing. Her tireless efforts eventually led her to land her first job in the Art Department on the critically acclaimed HBO series, Bored to Death. It was during this tenure that Cate developed a storyboard portfolio, showcasing her unique visual storytelling skills, which caught the attention of the esteemed director, Scott Derrickson.
Derrickson was so impressed with Cate's work that he extended an offer for her to join his team as a storyboard artist on the chilling thriller, Sinister. This marked the beginning of a long-standing professional relationship between Cate and Scott, as well as her collaboration with the renowned Blumhouse Productions. Throughout her illustrious seven-year career as a storyboard artist, Cate has had the privilege of working on a diverse range of projects, including television, commercials, and feature films, alongside some of the most respected writers and directors in the industry, such as Tommy Schlamme, Alan Taylor, and Akiva Goldsman.
