Efrain "Carlos" Tobalina, a renowned figure in the adult film industry, was born on April 5, 1925, in Peru. Prior to settling in California in 1956, he had a significant stint in Brazil, followed by a brief sojourn in America in the early 1950s.
Tobalina's early career was marked by his work as a used car salesman at various automobile dealerships, as well as his dual role as an announcer on a Spanish language radio station. This entrepreneurial spirit eventually led him to establish his own film production company, C. Tobalina Productions, Inc., in 1964. That same year, he married bookkeeper Maria Pia, with whom he had two daughters, Gloria and Linda, born in 1964 and 1966, respectively.
Tobalina's foray into the adult film industry began with the softcore feature Infrasexum in 1969. Two years later, he acquired the Mayan Theater on Hill Street in downtown Los Angeles, which served as the primary theatrical venue for his films. Furthermore, he owned two homes in Corona Del Mar, as well as the Star Theater in La Puente and the X Theater on Hollywood Boulevard.
Throughout the 1970s and 1980s, Tobalina produced over forty X-rated movies, often filming at his residence on 14930 Corona Del Mar. His explicit hardcore pictures frequently found themselves at the center of legal battles, as he fought to protect his constitutional right to create and distribute adult content. Unfortunately, his health began to decline, and he passed away on March 31, 1989, at the age of 63, due to terminal liver cancer, as stated in a suicide note.
Note: I've rephrased the text as requested, keeping the new lines and focusing on the biography of Efrain "Carlos" Tobalina.
