Bill Tung Biu, a renowned Hong Kong actor and horse racing commentator, was born on March 30, 1933, in Hong Kong. He began his career in the horse racing industry as a jockey, working alongside his family at their racing horse stable.
However, his talent and charisma soon caught the attention of industry professionals, and he was recruited to become a horse racing commentator. This marked the beginning of his successful career in the world of sports broadcasting.
As his fame grew, he started receiving invitations to act in various movies, a venture he embarked upon in 1949 and continued until 1996. During the 1980s and 1990s, he collaborated with the renowned actor Jackie Chan on numerous projects.
Throughout his acting career, Tung played a wide range of roles, including the iconic character of Inspector Bill Wong in the Police Story series, as well as a wizard in the film Ghostly Vixen. His final movie appearance before retiring from acting was in Police Story 4: First Strike, released in 1996, where he played the role of 'Uncle' Bill Wong.
In addition to his acting career, Tung was also a respected horse racing commentator, a profession he continued until his retirement in 2000. Tragically, he passed away on February 22, 2006, due to complications related to lung failure.
