Beatriz Valdes Fidalgo was born into a Cuban family, raised by her mother and maternal relatives. At the age of 8, she began taking courses at a renowned children's art instruction workshop in Havana, where she participated in various activities. She gained recognition in juvenile series and telenovelas, such as the successful television series "Algo más que soñar" (1984),which told the stories and experiences of four young recruits in 1970s Cuba, and in which Beatriz also performed the song "Ya se va aquella edad", composed by Pablo Milanés. She also starred in the telenovela "Tren de noviembre" (1989) alongside debutant Jorge Treto.
Her first major film opportunity came with "Los pájaros tirándole a la escopeta" (1984),a comedy directed by Rolando Díaz, where she worked alongside renowned Cuban actors Reinaldo Miravalles, Consuelo Vidal, and Alberto Pujol, in a fun story about a young macho who doesn't understand that his mature mother falls in love with his girlfriend's father.
She continued to appear in films such as "Lejanía" (1985),directed by Jesús Díaz, which dealt with the theme of exile and the reunion of a mother with her son; "Como nosotros" (1985),which narrated a love story set against the backdrop of Cuba's 1985 War of Independence; "Como la vida misma" (1985),a film by Víctor Casaus, inspired by a theatrical work, centered on the problems of young people at a rural school and their greatest success "La bella del Alhambra" (1989),directed by Enrique Pineda Barnet, based on the novel "Canción de Rachel" by Miguel Barnet, which told the story of a chorus girl from the famous Havana theater "Alhambra" at the beginning of the 20th century, an era of glory for Cuban musical theater amidst the turbulent political events and machinations of the nascent Republic.
She arrived in Venezuela after being invited to the first Inter-American Film Forum in 1989. At that time, she gave birth to her first child, Mauricio, and in 1991 returned to Venezuelan soil to act in a film that would be shot in the city of Mérida, called Grisalla. In recent years, she has worked on Cuban films such as "Perfecto amor equivocado" and the documentary feature film by Carlos Barba commemorating the 20th anniversary of the release of "La bella del Alhambra". She is a great lady of acting, very versatile and unique.
