Barbro Anna Elisabet Kollberg was a renowned Swedish actress, theatre leader, and educator, whose impressive career spanned over six decades. She began her formal training at the prestigious Royal Dramatic Theatre School, where she honed her craft from 1937 to 1940. Following her studies, she became a member of the esteemed Blanche Theatre in Stockholm, where she honed her skills further.
In 1943, director Gösta Cederlund approached Kollberg with an offer to play the leading role of Marta in the feature film "Kungsgatan". This was her tenth film appearance, but it proved to be a pivotal moment in her career, as it marked a significant departure from her previous work. The role of Marta was a challenging one, requiring great depth and nuance from the actress.
