Ann McCrea, a renowned American film and television actress, was born on February 25, 1931, in DuBois, Pennsylvania, to a Greek mother and Scottish father. Standing at 5'5", she began her career in the entertainment industry by attending a modeling school, eventually becoming a cover girl and model. Her path to stardom was facilitated by a chance encounter with Bing Crosby, who encouraged her to relocate to Hollywood, California.
McCrea's acting career commenced in 1952 with an uncredited role in the film Deadline – U.S.A., playing the character "Sally Gardner". She subsequently guest-starred in various television programs, including Bachelor Father, Mr. Adams and Eve, and The Twilight Zone.
In 1963, McCrea landed the coveted role of Midge Kelsey in the popular American sitcom television series The Donna Reed Show. She remained with the show until its conclusion in 1966, becoming an integral part of the fictional cul-de-sac community as the best friend of Donna Stone (played by Donna Reed) and neighbor to the characters.
Following her departure from The Donna Reed Show, McCrea continued to work extensively in television, appearing in notable shows such as The Love Boat, Fantasy Island, and Murder, She Wrote. She also made appearances in a few films, including Will Success Spoil Rock Hunter? (1957) and Girls, Girls, Girls (1962).
After retiring from acting in the early 1980s, McCrea currently resides in California, where she has lived for many years.
