Two friends, Rick and Eugene, share an apartment and chase their dreams. Rick is an aspiring artist seeking his big break, while Eugene is obsessed with comic books, particularly The Bat Lady series. Their fortunes change when the original artist is fired, and Rick gets the chance to pitch his own comic book series. Eugene meets the artist's model, Bessie Sparrowbrush, unaware that she's the inspiration behind the Bat Lady. As rivalry and romance blossom among the four, the story is filled with catchy song and dance numbers.
