Angeliki Papoulia, a talented Greek actress, was born in Athens, Greece. She pursued her passion for the performing arts by graduating from Athens University's Theatre Studies program and the "Empros" Theatre Drama School in 2000. Her bilingual skills in English and French have undoubtedly added to her versatility as an actress.
Angeliki has had the privilege of starring in numerous films, including Matchbox (2002),Dogtooth (2009),which won the "Prix Un Certain Regard" at the Cannes Film Festival and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Foreign Language Film, Alps (2011),A Blast (2014),The Lobster (2015),The Miracle of the Sargasso Sea (2019),Amulet (2020),and Green Sea (2018). Her performances have garnered international recognition, with Dogtooth earning her the Heart of Sarajevo for Best Actress at the Sarajevo Film Festival.
Aside from her film career, Angeliki is also a co-founder of the blitz theatre group, which she established in 2004. The group has presented its productions in various prominent festivals and theatres across Europe, including the Festival d'Avignon, Theatre de la Ville, La Comedie de Reims, Schaubuhne Theatre, Thalia Theatre, and the Athens and Epidaurus Festival. Angeliki has written, directed, and acted in all the group's performances, showcasing her multifaceted talents.
In addition to her work with the blitz theatre group, Angeliki has collaborated with other renowned directors, including Michael Marmarinos, Lefteris Vogiatzis, Yorgos Houvardas, and Yorgos Lanthimos. Her recent co-direction of theatre performances at Luzerner Theater in Luzern, Switzerland, with Christos Passalis, further demonstrates her versatility and commitment to her craft.
