Biography

AGIM SOPI was born on July 23, 1956, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey in the world of film. His academic pursuits took him to the Państwowa Wyższa Szkoła Filmowa w Łódź in Poland, where he laid the foundation for his future success. He later continued his studies in Zagreb, Croatia, graduating from the Faculty of Dramatic Arts at the University of Zagreb with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in film directing.

However, during the communist regime of former Yugoslavia, Sopi's works were met with resistance and censorship due to political motivations. His first feature film, "The Man of Earth", was banned and partially destroyed by decree of the executive authorities. This setback did not deter Sopi, who went on to establish AS Film Production in 2000, producing feature films and documentaries primarily with his own investments.

In 2005, Sopi gained independence as an artist, free to pursue his creative vision without external constraints. He also took on the role of lecturer at the Faculty of Arts at the University 'Hasan Prishtina', teaching Film Theory from 2010 to 2016. Despite his professional accomplishments, Sopi faced another challenge when was he banned from shooting films by the authoritarian Government of Kosovo from 2010 to 2022 due to political disagreements.

Undeterred, Sopi regained his status as an independent artist in 2016, marking a new chapter in his illustrious career. Throughout his journey, Sopi has consistently demonstrated his resilience and dedication to his craft, leaving a lasting impact on the world of film.
