A journalist discovers a mysterious island where scientists are conducting weather experiments to feed the growing global population, but the experiments have unintended consequences, including the growth of giant mutated mantises. Meanwhile, Godzilla arrives on the island, seemingly called there, and adopts a defenseless infant from a giant egg, learning to care for and raise it as one of his own.
