In the town of Timber Rock, a range war erupts between cattlemen and sheepmen. The cattlemen slaughter their own herds to manipulate prices, then blame the sheepmen for the destruction. The leader of the sheepmen, Jack Mahoney, is falsely accused of murdering rancher Jim Woodstock, causing Woodstock's daughter Roberta to end their engagement. To uncover the truth, government agent Steve Brent, also known as the Durango Kid, infiltrates the cattlemen, while a song titled "It's Got to Get Better" fails to improve the situation.
