A rugged cowboy named Jim Stewart arrives in Mesa City, purchases a ranch from a wheelchair-bound publisher, and sets out to confront the notorious outlaw gang, "The Phantoms," who have been terrorizing the area by stealing cattle.

Charles Starrett arrives in Mesa City and purchases a ranch from a wheelchair-bound publisher, only to find the area plagued by the notorious outlaw gang, "The Phantoms." After his cattle herd is stolen and his foreman is killed, Jim takes matters into his own hands, disguising himself as the Durango Kid to confront the gang. Initially suspecting a local rancher of being behind the gang, Jim's suspicions shift after meeting the man's beautiful sister.
