In this film, two kids stumble upon a book in a trash can and discover the story of a poor neighborhood in Mexico City. The story revolves around Pepe "El Toro", a humble carpenter, his daughter Chachita, and his romantic pursuit of "Chorreada". The narrative is woven around the lives of a diverse group of characters, including two drunk women, a sleep-deprived beauty, a prostitute with a troubled past, and a hooker struggling with pneumonia. However, the tale takes a tragic turn when Pepe is wrongly accused of robbery and sent to jail.
