It's an experiment in human behavior, exploring the most natural of animal impulses. When a man is blinded in an explosion, he becomes the first human subject in a cross-species organ transplant experiment, receiving the eyes of a wolf. He regains his sight and develops new senses, but also becomes violent and aggressive.
