In 1898, the U.S. Government backs the Cuban rebels against Spanish rule. Theodore Roosevelt, Assistant Navy Secretary, joins a volunteer cavalry regiment to experience the war firsthand. The diverse regiment, later known as the Rough Riders, unites volunteers from across the nation. In Cuba, they face ambushes, intense fire, and a desperate charge up a defended hill.
