Chadder Vale, a small Northern village, experiences chaos following a series of strange and unnatural crimes after five years of Detective Riya Ajunwa's presence there. Upon arriving, Ajunwa sought to solve "the one big crime" that would make her feel alive again. One night, Katie Wells, a local girl, is mysteriously abducted, leaving behind an abandoned car with traces of blood. Despite the village barely registering Katie's disappearance, she returns the next day unharmed. Riya feels out of place due to her outsider status and becomes suspicious when strange happenings escalate within the community. She eventually uncovers a universe unlike anything she has ever seen as the crimes become increasingly horrific.
