Gunfighter Wild Bill Saunders is hired by the daughter of a murdered freighter, Spunky, to avenge her father's death at the hands of Powder Kilgore.

In the film, Powder Kilgore murders a freighter and his daughter, "Spunky", who then seeks help from gunfighter Wild Bill Saunders. Wild Bill forms a state ranger's organization with pardoned prisoners, who prove themselves by taking down the Kilgore gang. He defeats Kilgore's henchman, Lightning Barlow, and foils a gold-shipment holdup. When "Spunky" and her helper are taken prisoner, Wild Bill rescues them, but Kilgore and his gang surround the hideout, leading to a tense showdown.
