The Fire and the Rain background

The Fire and the Rain

In a parched realm, two vying priests, Yavakri and Parvasu, pursue their own means to win the favor of the rain deity, ultimately sparking a chain of illicit relationships, deceit, and bloodshed.

The film is based on an incident from the Mahabharata and also adapted from Girish Karnad's play "Fire in the Rain". It features Amitabh Bachchan in a cameo as Lord Indra, Jackie Shroff as the head priest Puravasu, and Raveena as his unfaithful wife in love with Yavakri, played by Nagarjuna.
