Harry Steele, an American adventurer, seeks the treasure for personal gain, but faces competition from a ruthless adversary and a former Iron Curtain refugee, Elena Antonescu, who seeks escape to Mexico. As they navigate the treacherous landscape, they may develop a complicated love-hate relationship. An American archaeologist, Dr. Stanley Moorehead, and Yma Sumac, a talented singer, also enter the picture, adding to the romantic triangle. Despite the trite premise, the film surprisingly becomes a wildly entertaining adventure.
