Rusty's Birthday

A coming-of-age tale unfolds in Lawtonville, Illinois, where high school junior Danny Mitchell prepares to celebrate his loyal German Shepherd Rusty's birthday with a thoughtful gift - a new engraved collar, complete with a special attachment.

In the small town of Lawtonville, Illinois, a high school junior's beloved pet German Shepherd, Rusty, goes missing without identification before his birthday. Rusty ends up with a poor itinerant family, the Neeleys, who are struggling to find work in the area. The boy, Danny, assumes the Neeleys stole Rusty and clashes with the family, particularly the teenage son Bill, who claims the dog as his own. As tensions rise, the two families must find a way to understand each other and come to a resolution.
