In 1939, Sir Robert Hunter, a marksman, attempts to assassinate Adolf Hitler, but his shot misses. After being captured and tortured by the Gestapo, Sir Robert escapes to England, only to find that his pursuers have followed him. He goes into hiding to evade capture, determined to continue his battle against the Gestapo.
