Ayoub, a mid-teen, lives with his mother and half-sister in Amsterdam's projects, striving to avoid his father's addiction and mother's lonely life. He spends time with friends, gets into mischief, and develops feelings for Laura, who is already in a relationship with a neighborhood thug. Ayoub tries to impress Laura by becoming a tough guy, taking on odd jobs for a local criminal, Kalpa, who is eccentric and flashy.
