In this film, a charismatic gambling hall owner leaves the vibrant city of New Orleans and brings his unique blend of hot jazz to the bustling streets of Chicago, featuring iconic performances by Louis Armstrong, Billie Holiday, and Woody Herman.

In the vibrant city of New Orleans in 1917, Nick Duquesne, the owner of a casino and nightclub, falls in love with Miralee Smith, a young woman with a passion for the blues and jazz. Despite their differing backgrounds, they find common ground in their love for music and each other. However, their happiness is short-lived as the city government decides to shut down Storyville, forcing Nick to leave and Miralee to pursue a career in opera. Years later, their paths cross again, leading to a dramatic reunion that will test their love and resolve.
