In a small town, an oil company's drilling operation is disrupted by a mysterious ecosystem, which their geologist warns could impact their drilling rights. Despite this, the company's boss orders them to continue drilling, resulting in a catastrophic event. Meanwhile, a young man named Tripp, who works at a scrap yard, becomes fascinated with a strange, slug-like creature that feeds on oil. As Tripp bonds with the creature, he must navigate its destructive power and the oil company's attempts to capture it, all while trying to figure out how to stop the chaos it unleashes.
