In this cinematic endeavor, a silent black-and-white film about Lisbon is struggling to come to fruition under the direction of Friedrich Monroe. To help overcome this creative hurdle, Monroe reaches out to his friend Phillip Winter, a sound engineer, who arrives in Lisbon weeks later to find Monroe gone, but leaving behind the unfinished film. Winter, captivated by the city and its Portuguese singer Teresa, decides to stay and records the film's soundtrack. Meanwhile, Monroe is roaming the city, capturing unseen footage with a camcorder. Eventually, the two meet, and Winter convinces Monroe to complete the film.
