In this classic whodunit, a small-town editor teams up with a big-city journalist to unravel the mystery of a murdered rancher and uncover the truth behind the inheritance of his vast fortune, ultimately bringing the perpetrators to justice.

Flying T ranch owner Sam Talbot is killed in a suspicious horse riding accident, prompting St. Louis reporter Connie Edwards to investigate whether it was murder. With the help of Roy Rogers, editor of the local newspaper, Connie uncovers a web of deceit and conspiracy involving Talbot's niece Jan, Steve McClory, and coroner Jim Judnick, who had all benefited from Talbot's death.
