Janey Edwards, a music industry executive, discovers a talented folk singer, Grant Sanborn, at a college. She poses as a student to get a recording of his song and takes it to her boss, Jason Ambrose, who is impressed by Grant's voice and signs him to a contract. However, Cambria Records only wants Grant to record popular songs, not his folk music. Janey becomes torn between her loyalty to her boss and her growing admiration for Grant's music, leading to a conflict that threatens to ruin their relationships and careers.
