Escapade in Japan

A young American boy miraculously survives a plane crash at sea and is rescued by a Japanese fisherman after being separated from the rest of the passengers and crew.

Dick Saunders, an American diplomat, has been transferred to Tokyo with his wife Mary and adolescent son Tony. However, Mary decides to take Tony back to the US instead, leaving Dick behind. Tony's flight is lost at sea and he is rescued by a Japanese fishing family, the Tanakas. Tony befriends their son Hiko and they run away when Hiko overhears his father planning to contact the police. The two boys try to make their way to Tokyo to reunite with Tony's parents, but their journey is fraught with challenges.
