Cedar Cove is a charming town on an island in Puget Sound, Washington, where neighbors look out for each other and values are old-fashioned. The town's moral compass is Olivia Lockhart, a bicycle-riding, scarf-wearing judge who grew up there. Despite being the center of attention, Olivia's life has had its challenges, including a divorce from her physician ex-husband after their son's accidental drowning death. This traumatic event affected their daughter, Justine, who has struggled to find her place in life. As the town faces challenges from developers like Warren Saget, Olivia is pulled in different directions, personally and professionally, which may lead her to leave Cedar Cove. She also searches for love while supporting her friends and family, including her childhood best friend, librarian Grace Sherman.
