Dick Turpin, an 18th-century English highwayman, returns from military service in Flanders to find his inheritance stolen by a greedy landowner. Bitter and penniless, Turpin turns to a life of robbery, but his Robin Hood-like tendencies lead him to get involved in others' affairs. He's aided by his partner Nick Smith, also known as Swiftnick, and constantly at odds with his arch-nemesis, the ruthless Sir John Glutton.
