In the small town of Rejection, Nevada, a silver mine is the only source of income. The town is home to a few residents, including Christine Lord, who runs the local inn, and the Chang family, who own a market. When a hot spring causes four eggs to hatch, the mine's workers are killed, and the mine is shut down. The town's owner, Hiram Gummer, arrives to investigate and discovers that each egg hatched a massive creature, which he calls Dirt Dragons. As the creatures wreak havoc, Hiram calls upon the fastest gunslinger in the west, Black Hand Kelly, to help defend the town. When Kelly is killed, Hiram decides to leave, but the townspeople refuse to abandon their home.
