Les Misérables background

Les Misérables

A man's life is transformed by a poignant and parallel journey, mirroring the struggles of Jean Valjean from Victor Hugo's iconic novel.

A poor, illiterate former boxer teams up with a wealthy Jewish lawyer from Paris to transport his family to Switzerland during WWII. As they travel, the boxer asks the lawyer's family to read Victor Hugo's "Les Miserables" to him, and by the end of the movie, each main character finds themselves in situations mirroring those in the iconic novel.
