A supermarket owner, Naoto Aoyagi, witnesses a middle school student stealing cosmetics and chases her out, only for her to be hit by a car and truck, resulting in her death. The girl's father, Mitsuru Soeda, refuses to accept that his daughter was stealing and begins to suspect Naoto and the car driver, causing tension and media frenzy.
