Banno's journey with Toho began in 1955, as he immersed himself in the world of filmmaking by studying under the tutelage of esteemed directors Mikio Naruse, Kengo Furusawa, and Seiji Maruyama.
He would go on to forge a successful career as an assistant director under the visionary Akira Kurosawa, honing his craft and laying the groundwork for his future endeavors.
Later in his life, Banno played a pivotal role in the revitalization of the Godzilla franchise at Legendary Pictures, serving as an executive producer for the 2014 film Godzilla.
