Yongyoot Thongkongtoon, a renowned Thai film director, producer, and screenwriter, made his debut in the film industry in the year 2000 with the sports comedy "The Iron Ladies". This fact-based sports comedy revolves around a volleyball team comprising of gay and transgender men. The film garnered several awards in Thailand and at film festivals, including the Thailand National Film Association Awards and a special mention Teddy Award at the 2001 Berlin Film Festival. Yongyoot went on to direct the sequel, "The Iron Ladies 2", in 2003.
In the year 2004, Yongyoot directed "Maid", a spy spoof in which maids are recruited for a top-secret government intelligence agency. This was his first release under the newly formed studio GTH, which was a result of the merger between GMM Grammy's GMM Pictures, producer Visute Poolvoralaks' Tai Entertainment, and producer-director Jira Maligool's Hub Ho Hin production company.
Yongyoot's subsequent project was the 2006 romantic comedy-drama "Metrosexual", which revolves around a group of women trying to figure out if the fiancé of one of their friends is a closeted gay.
Currently, Yongyoot works at three film and media companies. He serves as the Senior Creative Producer at Sanookdee Thaweesuk. Additionally, he is the co-founder, Senior Director of Marketing Communications, and Senior Director of International Business Department at GDH 559. Furthermore, he is also the co-founder of Hub Ho Hin Bangkok.
