Xu Xiaoxi is a Chinese filmmaker with an international background, born in Chengdu, China. He pursued his undergraduate degree in Fine Arts at the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in South Africa, specializing in Video Art. After completing his BA, Xu Xiaoxi moved to Los Angeles in 2008 to further his education at the NYFA at Universal Studios in Hollywood, where he earned his MFA in Filmmaking in 2009. During his time at NYFA, he co-directed the feature film "Desire Street" with Roberto F. Canuto, which premiered at the Mix Mexico Film Festival in 2011 and received a Special Mention for Best Feature Film.
Xu Xiaoxi's short film "Mei Mei" was showcased at various film festivals, and his latest fiction film, "Ni Jing: Thou Shalt Not Steal", garnered accolades at the Asturian Film Festival in 2014, winning the Best Film award in the USA and Best Actress and runner-up Best Film in Spain.
As the co-founder and CEO of Almost Red Productions Chengdu, China, Xu Xiaoxi has directed and written fiction and commercial films since 2010.
