Vikram Bhatt is a multifaceted individual, boasting a wide range of accomplishments as a Bollywood director, producer, and screenwriter.
Born into a family with a rich cinematic legacy, Vikram is the grandson of Vijay Bhatt, a pioneer in Indian filmmaking, and the son of cinematographer Pravin Bhatt. With a remarkable career spanning over three decades, Vikram has to his credit more than 21 films, currently serving as the creative head of ASA productions.
Vikram's journey in the film industry began at the tender age of 14 in 1982, when he collaborated with late Director Mukul Anand on the film 'Kanoon Kya Karega', a project that lasted for approximately 6.5 months. His last film with Mukul, the iconic 'Agneepath', cemented his position as a Chief Assistant.
Subsequent to working with Mukul, Vikram joined forces with Director Shekhar Kapur for a period of 2.5 years and later with Director Mahesh Bhatt for 2 years, contributing to films like 'Hum Hain Raahi Pyaar Ke' and 'Junoon'.
Vikram made his directorial debut with 'Jaanam', produced by Mukesh Bhatt. Despite his initial four films not performing well at the box office, he tasted success with 'Fareb', marking the beginning of a string of successful films, including 'Ghulam', 'Kasoor', 'Raaz', and 'Awaara Pagal Deewana'.
Following 'Awaara Paagal Deewana', Vikram entered a phase where his films did not achieve the same level of success, except for the occasional hit, 'Deewane Hue Paagal', and the semi-biopic, 'Ankahee'.
In 2008, Vikram returned to form with the success of his horror film, '1920'. 'Shaapit' followed suit in 2010, completing his successful Horror Trilogy.
In 2010, Vikram pioneered the use of stereoscopic 3D in Indian cinema, releasing his film 'Haunted - 3D' in May 2011, marking a significant milestone in the country's film history.
